And he did it in such over-the-top language. The problem, which I tried to point out in the post, is that we're so used to seeing these arguments made seriously - especially after a big cheating scandal - that it's hard to see it as a joke. It's the problem with any kind of "ironic" sexism/racism/homophobia, coming from dudes/white people/straights: there's no clear mark of irony on it, so it's so easy to miss the joke that you might as well not make it.Sadyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12163678207182481274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726951603608379154.post-31657403708259650232009-06-27T02:04:43.097-07:002009-06-27T02:04:43.097-07:00Erm, "adultress"?Erm, "adultress"?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726951603608379154.post-29987704012586335502009-06-26T15:13:59.348-07:002009-06-26T15:13:59.348-07:00Re: cuckquean. But cuckoldry is also a staple of comic plots, wherein the cuckolded man (usually older) gets what he deserves for trying to keep his hot young wife under too-strict supervision and surveillance. Of course, those plots are also about seducing the man's wife as a means of bringing him down a notch. But all this I mention just to note that cuckoldry can be comic, too.FlipYrWhighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12738420816947638407noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726951603608379154.post-9354278766738111812009-06-26T10:09:07.494-07:002009-06-26T10:09:07.494-07:00"Girlfriend/wife" and "narcissistic..."Girlfriend/wife" and "narcissistic supply source" appear to be interchangeable terms in Mr. DeVore's world.Nanellanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726951603608379154.post-57790187822325999192009-06-26T08:55:11.709-07:002009-06-26T08:55:11.709-07:00I keep being distracted by the idea of Spartan Wiv...I keep being distracted by the idea of Spartan Wives being all lovey-dovey with their husbands when they got home from war, since that doesn't really jive with my understanding of Spartan culture or women.<br /><br />"Return with your shield or on it" isn't really the same thing, you know?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726951603608379154.post-19415246355448153912009-06-26T08:45:14.296-07:002009-06-26T08:45:14.296-07:00I wouldn't exactly call it common usage, OB.I wouldn't exactly call it common usage, OB.snobographerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11874569135368534339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726951603608379154.post-27659411293929562812009-06-26T00:14:29.220-07:002009-06-26T00:14:29.220-07:00The word for a woman whose husband cheats on her i...The word for a woman whose husband cheats on her is 'cuckquean'.
